3 stars because I just couldn't like this book as much as I liked the first 2 books.
Good:
-The mutants and their growth. We already find out a bit about them in the first and second book, but in this book it is even more clear. The mutants are changing, and luckily for the humans it seems they are changing for the better.
-Fade + Deuce romance! I love me some good romance, and I was so happy to see various things happening in this book. Things that also caused me to laugh aloud. I won't spoil much, but I am sure others will have a small laugh about it too.
They still make a wonderful couple, and Deuce is very patient with Fade and his problems. She just kept waiting, enjoying the small moments they had together. Waiting for her loved one to heal and to enjoy the touches again.
-The worldbuilding and the gorgeous details of the many towns we visit. I especially loved Rosemere, it sounds like a town out of a fairytale.
-The ending was a bit anti-climatic, though I did like it. I liked to have a conclusion to such a gruesome war.
-The Cover. So happy that it is matching the rest. The many times I have series that have different covers, because someone thought it would be fun to just change them after 1 or 2 books.
The bad:
-I was absolutely not expecting the death of a certain character. Why!!!!
-The war, war and war. I know it was said and hinted towards in the second book, but I think we could have easily skipped 100 pages of just nothing (sorry, I am not a war girl, nor do I like politics and all that). Instead it just dragged and droned on and on and on. At times I was just ready to drop the book, put it away and just forget this book existed. So yeah, the war and all that surrounds it is what made me drop at least 1.5 star off this book.
-The mad scientist. I just knew something was bound to happen, and sadly it happened.
-The idiocy of people. Seriously, you would think people would have learned from ancient history, but it seems they didn't. Making the same stupid decisions, doing the same things that caused all this mess in the first place.
All in all, still a balanced book, but again, it could do without all the war stuff.
